Costume historical drama Glory 玉茗茶骨 recently held its boot ceremony, officially kicking off the start of its filming activities in Hengdian. Yu Zheng’s latest work in progress also confirmed its official line up with Neo Hou Minghao and Gulinazha heading up the cast. Although both actors have been criticised previously for their acting, many agree that their visuals pair well together. Nazha in particular certainly fits the bill for a woman whose many suitors are fighting over just as Hou Minghao has fans swooning when he recently serenaded them with a song. Nonetheless, it’d be interesting how their chemistry will pan out onscreen.
C-Drama Glory Plot and Cast
As far as the plot goes, Nazha’s character Rong Shanbao is quite the character in this one. As a wealthy heiress, she has seven men vying for her hand, hence the hefty list of male supporting characters including Chen Ruoxuan, Zhao Yiqin, Ma Wenyuan, Liu Qing, Richard Li Fei and Shu Tong in the story. Hou Minghao plays the young magistrate Lu Jianglai who previously butted heads with the powerful Rong family. When he finds himself in a pickle because of his involvement in an old murder case, he is rescued by Rong Shanbao. Incidentally, it looks like we have quite a few short drama actors among the “suitors” though He Jianqi who was also supposed to be in the cast is no longer following a controversy.
Meanwhile, Shanbao craftily thought she could take advantage of his serious injury and supposed amnesia by demoting him to a lowly groom in their stable. To buy himself some respite from those hunting him, Lu Jianglai goes along with Shanbao’s ingenious plan and plays pretend. When the Rong family announces their search for a son-in-law, Lu Jianglai inadvertently finds himself embroiled in the battle of wits between Shanbao and her suitors.
Glory also features Cheng Xiao, Zhao Zhaoyi, Zhang Nan, Zhao JIamin, and Zhang Wanying.
