Hong Kong actress Selena Lee and non-showbiz fiancé Anson Cha have called off their engagement. After secretly dating for four years, Selena said yes when Anson finally popped the question back in February of 2021. At the time, the 43-year-old kept Anson’s identity a secret in order to protect him. Fast forward to four years later and the couple has called it quits.
Taking to social media to share the news, the Queen of News actress revealed that they had broken up two months ago and that she’s grateful for the eight and a half years they spent together. “We are both doing fine” she said whilst also sharing that it was a mutual decision they made with love and gratitude as well as blessings for each other. “Thank you everyone for respecting our decision and privacy” she added.
“Marriage does not necessarily equate to happiness. Instead, it’s all about enjoying the process of being together when fate brings you together. Being able to meet someone who allows you to grow and learn together at certain points in your lives and who makes you feel worthy of love is also a kind of happiness. In the process, there is effort, there is intention, there is growth and there is love.”
Relationships and breakups aren’t necessarily the be-all and end-all of everything. “Don’t become overly fixated about certain ideals and don’t care too much about what others think and let that influence your choices. Instead, follow your heart and listen to yourself, choose peace and happiness.” Selena ended her post with a request once again for privacy for them both.
