Xu Jiao, known for playing the little boy in the Stephen Chow film CJ7 back in the day, has grown to be quite outspoken. The 27-year-old actress was among those who criticized BLACKPINK’s Lisa for her Crazy Horse Performance, which drew mixed reactions from those who either agreed or disagreed with her. Recently, Xu Jiao was once again in the spotlight over how she dealt with non-celebrities.
A Heated Standoff Over Indoor Smoking

BOTTOM: Netizen wrote, “@Xu Jiao planning to sue you! cyberbullying me!…”
Among the two incidents was her standoff with a smoker. While dining in Changsha, Xu Jiao confronted a man smoking indoors, requesting he stop. The man refused, citing the lack of a “No Smoking” sign. Taking matters into her own hands, she recorded the incident. However, the smoker became aggressive, seizing her phone and tossing a cigarette butt into her bowl. Her decision to share the incident online drew widespread support for her courage but also criticism from many. She stayed firm even when the man refused to apologize unless she deleted the video and even updated her followers to say there aren’t going to be penalties as police revealed that indoor smoking isn’t explicitly illegal in Changsha. Nonetheless, Xu Jiao eventually took down her post.
In another instance, Xu Jiao shut down a Netizen’s criticism in response to her post about a movie by posting the person’s photo, which she’s since deleted. Reports say the Netizen is preparing to file a lawsuit against the actress for using their photo and causing them to be cyberbullied.
Xu Jiao’s actions have drawn support from those who commend how she is unafraid to speak up. However, she’s also garnered critics who feel as a public figure, she should have handled the situations differently.
