Shen Xiaoting, known for her visuals and professional ballroom dancing skills, is the Chinese member of the K-pop group Kep1er. The 25-year-old idol recently shared news to mark the start of 2025. In a post titled “Begin Again,” she announced her departure from TOPCLASS Entertainment as her contract with her agency of three years has ended. This move may have come as a surprise to some, though fans are very supportive.
Kep1er’s Historic Contract Renewal
Last year, Kep1er became the first group from Mnet’s audition shows to extend their contract after debuting through the show “Girls Planet 999“. Shen Xiaoting is among the seven out of nine members who renewed and continued with the group. However, Kep1er’s agency KLAP Entertainment suddenly announced in December 2024 that Shen Xiaoting would suspend group activities and return to mainland China for solo activities. Not long after, she left her Chinese agency.
Departure from her Chinese Agency
In her message, Shen Xiaoting reflected on her journey, transitioning from a college student to the entertainment industry. Expressing her thanks to TOPCLASS Entertainment and the team that supported her, Xiaoting also acknowledged her fans’ role in providing strength during tough times. “Because of your love, I’ve always given my all to every performance and stage,” she wrote.
It’s not uncommon for Chinese idols in K-pop to return to China, pursuing solo careers in acting, music, or variety shows though at this stage, is it not clear what her next step will be. As she embarks on a new path, Shen Xiaoting remains optimistic. “I may not be perfect, but I believe as long as I give my all, I’ll become a better version of myself every day,” she shared. She concluded with wishes for health and happiness, encouraging everyone to dream big and look forward to the future.
