A big congratulations to Big Biz Duel star Katy Kung who came home with the coveted Best Actress in last night’s TVB Anniversary Awards Ceremony held in Macau. The 35-year-old actress bested Darkside of the Moon actress Tavia Yeung whom many predicted would be up for an award even when she was still filming the drama. Katy also beat out actresses Kelly Cheung, Rosina Lam and Elaine Yiu who were all up for the same award.
Best Actress for Big Biz Duel
“I really feel like I’m dreaming. I am so happy watching from the audience. I never imagined that I would be nominated for the Best Actress award!” she said. Breaking down in happy tears, she thanked TVB for their continued support in growing her career over the past 16 years. “I feel like I’ve so many similarities to Fang Fang (her character in Big Biz Duel). I joined TVB at the age of 19, encountering many opportunities along the way where many good people helped me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity”.
Katy also thanked friends from the industry such as Grace Chan and Zoie Tam for their genuine friendship. “I am so grateful that I have met sincere friends in this industry who do not treat you as a competitor”. Also getting a big shout out was TVB executive director and boss Catherina Tsang aka “big sister Tsang” (珍姐). In her speech, the actress joked that she really liked it when big sis scolded her, otherwise it would make her feel unimportant. Katy said she is thankful for the solid advise she’d given her not just for her career but also for her life.

Meanwhile, Tavia Yeung who many assumed would win the award for her revenge drama Darkside of the Moon did walk away with an award, the Best Actress Award for the Greater Bay area.
