Since graduating high school in New Zealand last December, Hong Kong singer Chantel Yiu has been keeping herself busy before heading off to university. Aside from landing a spot in TVB’s Come Home Love: Lo and Behold, and lining up a couple of musical performances, the 18-year-old also nabbed a guest spot in Chinese musical variety show Infinity and Beyond 聲生不息‧大灣區季. Although the program hasn’t quite made it on screens yet, a quick behind-the-scenes snap shared by show host Alex Fong shows a glimpse of the singer!
As a graduate of TVB’s Stars Academy and a member of Cantopop group After Class together with Gigi Yim, we’ve all gotten used to her sweet pretty girl image. For her Infinity and Beyond stint, Chantel opted to change things up a wee bit, sporting what many have described as a more mature look for the 18-year-old. Pairing together a red dress with a white shirt and some seriously glossy red lips, some Netizens said they couldn’t recognise her with such heavy makeup. Others meanwhile are happy she’s trying different looks to be more fresh. She’s only 18 after all and is still experimenting with what style works for her.
Chantel Yiu graduated with “high distinction” from her Auckland highschool and says she’s proud of herself for passing and graduating high school at her level. “Reading is not easy and exams are even more difficult” she shared. The Hong Kong singer says she hopes to continue her studies in the US for university but also revealed she’s been accepted by three big universities in Hong Kong so staying in Hong Kong is also an attractive option.
