All these actresses are starving themselves to comply with some very unhealthy “beauty” standards while working hard on set. It was just a question of time until one of them had to collapse and there may be many more that we don’t know of.
Wishing everyone a healthier body image and a hot meal 🙏

I’m 100% agreed with you. Some of them incuding ZLS look so anorexia.
XZF
I think it’s very ironic – some people don’t have enough to eat and these celebrities can have any of the extravagant meals they want and they starved themselves.
du
actors as well, some of them look like ghosts and use padded suits on screen.

I have recently starting watching Korean movies and series. Korea has unbelievable talented actors, both male & female. Something that I immediately noticed, which reminded me of the weight issues that models, especially top models have or had, how thin their actresses are, most looked anorexics. especially on TV everyone seem to be at least 10 pounds heavier. Is it due to the demands of the industry? I hope that things change or more actresses or even actors are going to fall ill and die. I love most of K movies and series. wishing more would be dubbed in English.

Problem with this issue is ZLS comes from a wealthy background, she at any point can stop and not follow this career path. If she follows this career path, she needs to have a good mental head space, and realise that all these talks about her being chubby face is just like the wind. She’s quite competitive and tried to prove she’s the best, and that mental head space put her in this situation. Sure, you can blame the c-entertainment as a whole, but we have seen plenty of examples of ugly looking actors, who struggled massively at the beginning of their career, in a much much worse financial situation than her, who are now famous well respected actors/actresses of the industry.
I also don’t think her fans are healthy for her, they blindingly accepts whatever lies she put out, which over time, makes it really hard to maintain. Instead of saying she’s the best looking, say so what if she’s chubby, she’s beautiful in our eyes. But the fans must see her win over every other actresses, and that is a hard line to maintain. Especially the past few months headline: her beauty is alleviated! She’s skinny now and therefore she looking high class, and no longer girl next door cutie! (This is sooo toxic!). At least right now, she’s still young, her family is still rich, she also made a lot of money, why not slow down and choose a healthier career path, rather than down this path of unsustainable beauty idol 😖

Because they know they can only depend on their looks and fan-love to be able to obtain roles and earn huge money. They know they don’t have the acting skills to be able to diversify much. Many really skilled actors chose not to follow this route, and they are successful, altho’ not to the idol level, and not so beautiful or good-looking and they don’t maintain fan clubs. They chose to focus on their acting ability instead. And they are much happier, they have a private life and as they aged, they are respected.

There’s a pretty clear divide between actors (mainly from academies) who treat acting as a job and idol actors who are celebrities first. The first group don’t court attention outside of their drama/movie promo periods. They probably make way less money though.

I agree with you. Sometimes I feel quite sad for the professional actors, they have way better acting skills and yet they earn much less. Many dramas would not be as good without these supporting actors. And they struggled to get big roles in this super competitive market. But overall, I guess they are happy with their choice. They have the matured and balanced mind-set towards this industry. They worked for the long term, not just a flash in the pan, good-looking idol.

This! I think her fans actually put alot of pressure on her with their wildly absurd claims like she’s more beautiful than Dilraba, better actress than Zhou Dongyu etc. Then she’s under tremendous pressure to live up these claims and when she doesn’t, she gets criticized. Same with the plastic surgery claims. If her and her fans didn’t fight everyone about it, the entire issue would’ve blown over. Constantly fighting about it is actually making the public scrutinize her appearance even more. I agree she doesn’t seem to have a suitable mentality for this industry. She seems competitive and insecure. It always feels like she’s in an invisible race with her competitors when she probably has the most resources amongst them!

Like everything else in China, competition is fierce. And pretty faces are a dime a dozen. Maybe ZLS likes to be on top and stay famous? Fame is an addictive thing; and addiction to that level of not only attention, but adulation. IDK.

Most of the Chinese actors and actresses are skinny as rails and not healthy appearing. I hear that beauty standards in their culture are based on being thin and having light skin so they have rigid diets and use many facial masks and skin bleaching products.

Dear Lusi, I was so so sorry to hear about your health, I’m a big fan of yours and following
your acting, you are my favorite of all.
I wish you quick recovery and please take better care of your self.
GitGud
this comment section is really something…I’m just here to say hope she recovers soon 🙏
Shamim
Dear Lusi I became a fan of Chinese drama because of your acting in Romance of the Tiger. Get well soon. In our prayers from South Africa
Hope
Dear Lusi, people love you for who you are. If there are people who love you, it is natural that there will be people who have sth against you. You are not alone. I face this as well. Find yourself back. Ignore all the negativities. I love you as a person and your acting. Hope you recover soon!
Barb
whoever says Luisi is not talented, what are you watching?
luisi is a sweet, young woman who is extremely talented, and extremely multi faceted! the negativity she receives is unwarranted! acting is her career not her life, so layoff. the hatefulness on this site is disgusting and probably driven by hateful women. they tend to be dramatic and more critical. why is it actors are not held to this scrutiny????? there are many actors that aren’t that talented. but because their handsome are worshipped!! come on people, this is a young lady who is sick and needs love and support. Can’t you be a decent human being for once????
Kai
I think you need to be a decent human being too. Why would you lambast other people with such an emotional outburst just because it is their opinion that ZLS cannot act? ZLS’s acting is nothing extraordinary. She is as good as many other idol actors, but is she a really highly skilled actor? The answer is absolutely NO. Even ZLS herself will admit this.
What have we been watching? Most probably, a lot of other really good actors, who are not necessarily handsome or pretty and really good productions.
And who says male actors are also not subjected to the same scrutiny and the same pressures? It’s the same industry. No need to play the outrageous feminist. She doesn’t care a hoot about you or your “love”.
Rocket
Lol. Guys get real. Asians are naturally skinny. Look at some pics of PLA recruits. They don’t look buff at all only scrawny figures in military outfits. I doubt ZLS in a wheelchair becoz of anorexia. It maybe some underlying chronic condition that only reared its ugly head becoz of career stress…
BTW, me myself I can eat a fun ton of food and never gain a single pound! It all boils down to Asian genetics.
Barb
Love it!
Applefish
Your comment is what I said about the fans being so blind, and this is what cause ZLS’s breakdown! Instead of say: your health first, don’t need to lose weight, your weight and figure back then are fine, please get back to that. You said: she’s naturally thin because of her Asian genes! Dude, did you see the clip where she said she drinks water instead of enjoying an ice cream? If you are genetically thin/skinny, you wouldn’t need to watch what you eat! It’s 1 ice cream when she’s in a foreign country! Why not?!
If you want your idol to be healthy, and have a long career, then you need to be vocal about good habits she should have, rather than fueling these negative unsustainable body image!
