The highly anticipated sequel to the groundbreaking Taiwanese drama The World Between Us (我們與惡的距離2) is back with the original creative team—including producer Jayde Lin, director Lin Chun-yang, and screenwriter Lu Shih-yuan—joining forces again. A New Cast and a New Story
Premiering in 2018, The World Between Us became a sensation. The drama fearlessly tackled heavy topics like media ethics, the legal system, mental health, etc. The series swept the Golden Bell Awards in Taiwan, winning six major categories, including Best Drama, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and acting awards for its talented cast. It once again allowed a Taiwanese series to capture global attention, resonating with audiences worldwide. It’s no surprise that the series is back with The World Between Us 2.
Season 2 features a completely revamped ensemble cast led by Vic Chou. The actor gained instant fame in his early 20s through the hit series Meteor Garden and he’s evolved further from starring in Taiwanese idol dramas to becoming an award-winning actor. It certainly looks like an emotion-packed journey in The World Between Us 2, as the actor who’s now in his 40s portrays a character coping with the loss of his wife and child in an accident. He is joined by Hsueh Shih-ling and Yang Kuei-mei as well as a cast lineup that includes Nikki Hsieh, Derek Chang, Sara Yu, Troy Liu, and Bai Run-yin.
Set to premiere in 2025, The World Between Us 2 follows a story ignited by an arson case at a supermarket and how it impacts the lives of six families across two decades. It seems the new season has upped the ante. Production reportedly took 5 years of which 4 years was spent on the script. Director Lin Chun-yang likened it to producing three dramas simultaneously due to its scale and complexity. It looks like fans can look forward to another drama that shocks, resonates, and starts conversations.
