Things just went from bad to worse in Ju Jingyi’s ongoing battle to sever ties from her agency Star48 (Siba Media). On November 1, Star48 issued a statement that the 30-year-old actress’ contract with the agency has not yet expired and that she is still under contract with them as her exclusive agent. Because Ju Jingyi had taken steps to secure business contracts sans their approval, they’re now suing the actress for contract breach. As an added measure, they also slapped suits against companies and brands that signed unsanctioned agreements with the actress.
Back in June, both Star48 and the actress confused fans after issuing conflicting statements about the state of her contract with the agency. Star48 claimed (and continues to do so) that the first part of her contract had already ended and that they were now moving into the second phase of their agreement per a supplementary contract she signed. When the actress questioned the validity claiming she’d already informed her decision not to renew with them on June 18, 2024 and that she wasn’t aware of any additional agreement between them, Star48 claimed she signed a supplemental agreement on September 10, 2018.
A Fabricated Contract?
In response to today’s Star48 statement, Ju Jingyi declared the so-called supplementary agreement she supposedly signed on September 10, 2018 was faked. Aside from claiming that the contract was fabricated by the agency, the statement also reveals they’ve filed a suit against Star48 last July and have also petitioned the courts for handwriting verification.
“We solemnly reiterate that the “SNH48 Exclusive Artist Contract” between Ju Jingyi and Siba Media has expired on June 18, 2024. Their claim that “the two parties signed the Supplementary Agreement to the Exclusive Artist Contract on September 10, 2018” was fabricated by the other party. Our artist Ju Jingyi has never seen it or signed it.
In response to Siba Media’s forging of the “Supplementary Agreement” after the expiry of the contract, fabricating the facts of renewal, maliciously disrupting our normal cooperation, and inciting public opinion, we have filed a lawsuit in July this year and petitioned the court for handwriting identification.
In addition, we will never tolerate any behavior that causes losses to our various partners, and will use legal weapons to defend our legitimate rights and interests.”

Although I agree with the comments above that dramas will definitely more enjoyable without her waif-like presence, I still hope that she will win her case against the agency. It would help not only her but also other actors who are locked in abusive situations with their agencies.
Many agencies change and trademark the artists’ names which eventually gives them a stranglehold over the artists so that they cannot leave even when their contract expires. Not to mention that quite a few of these agencies sell out their artists to any production that brings the agency the most benefits without any care for the actors’ interests or career.
It is high time for such abusive practices to be regulated and maybe Ju Jingyi’s case can help with that.

I agree with you about bad industrial practise needs to be address so it is fair for all in the industry.

Her bad or should I say horrible acting does not mean you guys should wish her bad. She pretty to look at just like a few others I won’t name who can’t act to save their life. I hope she wins and continue to live her best life
lol
don’t wish her bad. i hope she wins her case. would never side with a money grubbing agency over an artist. it’s just nice to not have her grace my screen for awhile.
