After a five year wait, it won’t be long before everyone’s favourite NIS agent turned priest with anger management issues is back on screens to kick some serious butt! 2019’s The Fiery Priest was a big ratings hit back then which netted its star Kim Nam-gil awards and accolades for portraying a priest with a bit of a (fiery) temper problem. Well guess what, you’ll be able to watch Father Michael Kim face off against a new batch of baddies soon enough – in Busan this time, when the sequel releases on November 8, 2024.

Season 1 of SBS’s hilarious crime drama originally starred Kim Nam-gil as Father Michael Kim and Kim Sung-kyun as the bumbling detective working together to solve a murder of Michael’s friend Father Lee.  In the upcoming sequel, fans will be pleased to know that both actors are returning to reprise their original roles together with actress Honey Lee Hanee who played the snarky prosecutor Park Kyung-sun in season one. Together, Gudam-gu’s unlikely crime fighting trio are back once again to destroy a drug trafficking group that has gained a solid foothold in Busan.

Kim Nam-gil has proven time and again that he has the acting chops and flexibility to deliver whatever roles that come his way. As the fiery priest in the title, he delivers a performance that blends being serious and all that with comedy. Likewise, Kim Sung-kyun and Honey Lee both have great chemistry with him. Add that to a suspenseful script sprinkled with hilarity, the resulting piece is a funny, gripping and emotional ride for viewers.
