People often talk about certain events causing you to grow up fast. For In Blossom star Liu Xueyi , the big moment came when his mum fell ill. The actor talked about this in a recent episode of the travel show Random Journey on the Way 盲盒旅行局 and how the incident changed his whole outlook especially on the importance of material resources. Whereas he didn’t used to put too much importance on money nor did he have much desire for material things at all, he said him crying at the hospital and then going to the bank to take out money for his mother’s kidney transplant really drove home the importance of having money.
At the time he said he was fortunate enough to already be in the financial position to afford his mum’s treatments. However, holding that cash bag and feeling the weight of it in his hands, that he said, made him very aware of the value of money and how it enables him to take care of his family. Although money can’t solve all problems, having it goes a long way in being able to protect and support the people you care about.
Human growth is often triggered by a critical moment. As kids, material things and resources wasn’t a primary concern. But as we grow older, we shoulder more responsibilities from raising children and supporting a family to caring for our parents. When our loved ones fall ill, we come to realise the significance of our past efforts because it allows us to send warmth and support our family.

What a lovely young man. He is right, putting money aside for lives’ unexpected events is important.
Material goods are not. They grow old or fall apart and you throw them away. Having 30 dresses, 20 suits, 50 pairs of shoes, 15 designer bags, are just an illusion. We are all sold this illusion!
What is really important is saving some money, having what you need and sometimes what you want, finding someone to love and share your life with, loving and healing our families, if needed, and continually growing and lifelong learning. Giving to others also needs to play an important part of our lives, especially if we are blessed!
To me, having GOD in my life is also important. That is a personal thing.
