Gong Yoo is back with a brand new series, a Netflix drama mysteriously titled “The Trunk”. The series will be released on November 29, 2024 and also stars Seo Hyun-jin. Based on the novel of the same name written by Kim Ryeo-ryeong, it tells the story of a secretive marriage service that’s exposed after a suitcase mysteriously appears by the lake.

Gong Yoo stars as Han Jeong-won, who oddly enough agrees to a contract marriage to save his previous one. Meanwhile, Seo Hyun-jin’s Noh In-ji is a New Marriage (NM) employee who becomes Jeong-won’s temporary other half .. at least for a year until the contract expires. Despite her marriage and now living with her contract husband, she remains lonely as ever.

A Puzzling Web

The trailer begins to unravel a puzzling web, beginning with Noh In-ji walking the streets and then going into Han Jeong-won’s house with the trunk in question. Then said trunk is suddenly seen underwater before it surfaces again. There’s also the puzzling relationship between Han Jeong-won and his ex who possessively still calls him “honey”. Are things between them really over or far from it? As for Noh In-ji, why did she agree to a contract marriage if the idea of marriage “just disgusts her”.

Anyone with an over active imagination knows nothing good ever comes with a trunk that mysteriously appears out of nowhere. Throw in each character’s personal reasons for getting into a contract marriage, the cold and creepy isolated vibes of show, “The Trunk” definitely screams thriller and mayhaps even a touch of revenge.
