“The Trunk” is Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin’s First On-Screen Pairing

Hold on to your seats, K-drama fans, because we’re in for a delightful treat! Netflix’s upcoming series, The Trunk, is set to bring together two beloved actors, Gong Yoo, and Seo Hyun Jin, for their very first pairing.

Based on Kim Ryeo Ryeong‘s novel of the same title, The Trunk takes us into the life of talented music producer Jeong Won, portrayed by the 44-year-old Goblin star. He discovers himself caught in a web of unforeseen circumstances when he becomes entangled in an unusual marriage contract. Enter In Ji, played by 38-year-old Another Miss Oh actress, an employee at the matchmaking company, NM. Fate has an amusing way of bringing them together through a contract-based marriage, orchestrated by none other than Jeong-won’s ex-wife, Seo Yeon.

The couple’s lives are suddenly disrupted when a mysterious trunk is discovered in a nearby lake. As the secrets within the trunk begin to unravel, a series of events unfold, intertwining with the matchmaking service that brought the married couple together.

Although they’re under the same management, SOOP, this is the first time the two will be in the same project so fans are excited to see their on-screen chemistry. Both are known for their strong acting skills making netizens confident that they will bring their A-game to the series.

But it’s not just the actors that make the web drama look promising because it also boasts an impressive lineup behind the scenes. It will be directed by none other than Kim Gyu Tae, known for his previous successes with the hit TV series Our Blues and It’s Okay, That’s Love. Meanwhile, the script is written by Park Eun Young, who wrote the historical drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth.
