Ironic how Zhou Chengao is now being blasted for keeping his wife and kid a secret, all whilst trying to promote his couple pairing from his drama titled … You Are My Secret 私藏浪漫.
The actor who played manager Zhao Fanggang in the modern drama drew attention with his chemistry with Wang Zhener’s Rao Jing. I guess fans were really sold on their onscreen romance. Despite playing the second lead couple whose relationship fell on the enemies to lovers trope, their sweet kisses and interactions soon found them shippers to their “Gang Rao Bingji” pairing.
The thing is though, Zhou Chengao is actually married to his wife, actress Chen Yawen who appeared in the web version of Unrequited Love. He even reportedly took his daughter to the set. Nonetheless, when people realised he was married, the actor came under fire for being yet another actor pretending to be single just to sell a couple pairing in his drama.
Keeping Private Life and Work Separate
“Married with a baby”. Working hard on filming and living a good life. Please everyone, separate the character from the actor and give more attention to the finished product. Please shield the child (from all of this), we love her very much. I wish you all a happy mid-autumn festival and a happy reunion with your family”.
As expected, Zhou Chengao’s admission of being “married with a baby” drew conflicting reactions. On the one hand, Netizens are asking can’t married actors be allowed to play characters who fall in love onscreen? And why do drama fans always think that the CP they’re supporting is real? If actors try to keep distance just because they’re married, they’ll be called unprofessional. Fans just need to understand that it’s all just part of the job and not to take things too far. If you think about it, actors are essentially being paid to pretend. Making things so believable on screen is part of their work. But at the end of the day, just like the rest of us, they go home to their families and live their own lives.
Yet shippers of his CP are still salty on how he let people assume he was still single and how he seemingly tried to hide the fact that he’s married with a kid when he tried to sell his and Wang Zhener’s pairing in the drama. They claim that he should’ve kept a bit of distance with his co-star whilst promoting the show.

This whole CP promotion thing must be one of the most idiotic concepts the entertainment industry has ever come up with. They are ACTORS! When they kill each other on screen it’s not real either… 🙄
If people are unable to distinguish between real life and make-believe then they deserve being lied to!
Actors also have a right to be in relationships and have romance in their lives, it shouldn’t diminish their chances of being cast in a romantic role.

Omgash, you can’t act distance with your costar because you’ll be seen as unprofessional. Yet, you also can’t act too close because you’ll be criticised of using this CP hype to your advantages while you are a taken man. Sighs…You can’t win. At least he’s doing a great job to make the CP believable and willing to promote his CP while he’s married. This mean he’s just an actor and at the end of the day he’s a husband and a father who has to go home to his family.

yeah agreed, at the very least he isn’t hiding his relationship from the public. his wife even visited him onset so it’s not like he cares how much the public knows. nobody who is trying to hide their relationship would allow that
