If the whole fantasy premise of The Judge from Hell intrigued you, the beginning delivers just that—shocking with the death of Kang Bit-na, the heroine played by Park Shin Hye. Instead, the judge from hell, who gave her the wrong sentence, must make up for her mistake by becoming human and taking over Kang Bit-na’s body, sending ten people who deserve it to hell.
This is Park Shin Hye’s second drama in a row this year after Doctor Slump, marking her back-to-back return to dramas since her marriage and subsequent childbirth in 2022. The 34-actress looks beautiful as always, but instead of the typical “good girl” heroine, she’s a bit deranged, as her body now houses a female demon—the literal judge from hell.
The Judge from Hell on SBS earned 6.8% for its premiere, pushing even higher to 9.3% the next day, which seems fitting since the second episode was even better. Playing her leading man is Kim Jae Young as Han Da-On, a detective with a friendly personality who carries a hidden pain. Given that it airs on South Korean broadcast TV—where shows can reach higher ratings than cable—many fans are hopeful the show can keep its momentum to break 10% and beyond in future episodes.

I really want to watch this in HD on my TV but it’s only on Disney+ with some other platforms that I don’t have. Hopefully, Viki picks it up.
