We all knew this melon, and it’s finally official. Our Generation 樱桃琥珀 has dropped its first look, featuring Angel Zhao Jinmai and Zhang Linghe reuniting for their second drama together after The Princess Royal. Their first collaboration showcased incredible chemistry, both onscreen and off, with fans adoring their height difference, cute interactions, and youthful energy— at ages 21 and 26 respectively. It’s no surprise they were quickly cast together again in this Youku series, which brings them in a modern setting.
Helmed by Daylight Entertainment, known for stellar productions that appeal to both viewers and critics, Our Generation brings familiar faces behind the scenes. Zhang Kaizhou directs, and Hou Hongliang produces—both renowned for their work on hits like The Story of Minglan.
Based on the novel Oceans of Time by Yun Zhu 云住, the story follows two people who meet in their youth. Zhao Jinmai plays Lin Qile, a sunny and cheery character with the nickname Yingtao (cherry in English), referencing the title. Zhang Linghe portrays Jiang Qiaoxi, a quiet genius. After a misunderstanding separates them, they reunite years later.
The only concern some fans have voiced so far is about the styling being tacky, particularly Zhang Linghe’s hair, then again it could be part of their look as 90s youths?
