Beloved South Korean film The Classic is getting a Chinese remake featuring the brand new pairing of Lin Yi and Vanda Margraf as the story’s main couple. Aptly titled Our Destiny 我们的命中注定 the Chinese version will follow along in a similar vein as the original. One woman realises the uncanny similarities between her own love story to that of her mum’s.
“Across time and distance, ’til the day I met you, I realise that some encounters are predestined as if two souls were fated to always meet and be by each other’s side.“
The 2003 original features Son Ye-jin as Ji-hye and Jo In-sung as Sang Min. In the story, Ji-hye comes across a box of old letters belonging to her mum whilst cleaning their house. As she goes through each one, she soon realises her own story has similarities to her mother Jo-Hee’s, whose love for Joon-ha was doomed from the start. With the added complication of a union arranged by her parents to Joon-ha’s friend Tae-soo, it just wasn’t meant to be. However, things finally come full circle as Jo-hee’s daughter Ji-hye and Joon-ha’s son Sang Min, fall in love.
Our Destiny will be directed by Mai Zi and will feature a script written by Kong Yaya and Lu Anxian who wrote the script of the beloved film Someday or One Day.
