Historical romance series Melody of Golden Age (Chang Le Qu) 长乐曲 just shared the news that it’s premiering on August 26, 2024 on Hunan TV and Mango TV. The series will feature Ryan Ding Yuxi and Ancy Deng Enxi as the drama’s unlikely pair whose love story plays out in the reverse. Whereas most relationships follow the “first comes love then comes marriage” progression, this couple who fought and bickered incessantly, marry first then fell in love later. They are joined by the cast of Mao Zijun, Xiao Yan, Song Fangyuan and Kele Sun.
At the helm of the historical series is 29-year-old actor Ryan Ding Yuxi and 19-year-old Ancy Deng Enxi who play Shen Du and Yan Xing. Whilst not yet quite a household name, Ding Yuxi in particular certainly has the potential to become a big traffic star. All he needs now is the right hit show to open doors for him. Likewise, this is Deng Enxi’s first big historical as the female lead. Despite her young age – she’s 19 now and she debuted when she was just twelve, she’s starred in high-profile films early in her career. Shifting from child actress to leading her own historical, this could also be her big break.
Melody of Golden Age (Chang Le Qu) Synopsis
Adapted from the webnovel The Singing Of Chang An’s Copper Sparrow 长安铜雀鸣, Melody of Golden Age tells the story of Shen Du, a senior official of the Imperial Guard and Yan Xing, a junior clerk working in the Ministry of Justice. Because Yan Xing’s sister ran away from a marriage arranged by the Empress Dowager, she’s forced to take her sister’s place and marry Shen Du to protect her family. Meanwhile, unusual cases are cropping up in the capital forcing Shen Du and Yan Xing to work together and investigate.
What’s teased so far is quite similar to the novel where the heroine has studied to become a female official but finds herself becoming a substitute bride. Shen Du, on the other hand, seems like a tragic character, the son who’s reports his father for “treason” and vows to find the truth behind what happened.
