Byeon Woo Seok’s flight from South Korea to Hong Kong on July 12 has become a hot topic. And not for the reasons fans might hope. The actor’s bodyguards were heavily criticized for their excessive measures, which included inspecting flight tickets, blocking entrances, and flashing strong lights on passersby. This led to significant public backlash that hasn’t waned. Initially, the security company claimed they had coordinated with the airport. However, Incheon Airport released a statement denying any such arrangement.
Byeon Woo Seok experienced a meteoric rise to fame after his hit drama “Lovely Runner,” becoming a sought-after actor overnight as he jetted off to work commitments left and right around the globe. Unfortunately, this incident appears to be a road bump in his career. Byeon Woo Seok is now accused of letting fame go to his head. The extreme actions of his bodyguards have been mocked, with some saying they must think they’re protecting a president. Reports say some have even filed complaints about what happened, alleging rights violations. This negative news is not ideal for an actor who finally got his big break at 32 years old. Some fans defend him, arguing that the bodyguards’ actions should not reflect on the actor.
On July 15, Byeon Woo Seok’s’s agency VARO Entertainment issued a formal apology. They said that they were not fully aware of the situation at the airport, but they take full responsibility and apologize to those inconvenienced.
