"Creation of the Gods" Sequel Announces Delay

Fans eagerly awaiting the release of “Creation of the Gods 2” (封神第二部), the highly anticipated sequel to 2023’s “Creation of the Gods 1: Kingdom of Storms,” will need to exercise a bit more patience. In a recent update, director Wuershan shared important news regarding the film’s release schedule. Initially, it was expected that Part 2 would be released in 2024 and Part 3 in 2025.

In a message to fans, Wuershan expressed his regret over the delay (translated below):

“Hello, viewers and friends! Due to the increased workload post-production and complexity of the visual effects, ‘Creation of the Gods 2’ will not be able to meet you this summer. We are very sorry! Our post-production team has been working tirelessly on ‘Creation of the Gods 2,’ and we hope to repay the love and anticipation of our audience with a higher quality work! We will inform everyone of the subsequent progress through official channels. Thank you again, let’s keep going!”

The “Creation of the Gods” trilogy is an ambitious adaptation of the classic Chinese mythological novel “Fengshen Yanyi” (The Investiture of the Gods), which involves a rich tapestry of gods, demons, and legendary heroes. The first film set a high bar with its stunning visuals and intricate storytelling. Before it aired, there were concerns that the fantasy film, with its high production costs and high-profile cast, might not succeed. However, it delivered, and viewers have been eagerly awaiting the continuation of the story since filming for all three films was completed a few years ago. Despite this anticipation, some fans are worried about whether scandals involving the cast could affect the release of the subsequent movies.
