Back in December, former TVB star Vincent Wong announced he was leaving the network after 17 years to focus on his career in Mainland China. Because he wanted to step out of his comfort zone and challenge himself more, the 40-year-old said he didn’t mind having to start over. He also said he was totally okay with playing a supporting role for the moment when asked that it might not be so fast before he can play leading man. Not that he’s considered a noob in the industry though as he’s quite a familiar face in variety shows in China.
Vincent shares “I think every character is the main character in his own story, so how you enrich the character is your responsibility as an actor. I think if I join a production where he is not the main character, I can still meet some good opponents. I have no problems with creative directors or a good filming team who can understand me well. As long as you show your professionalism as an actor, they will be able to see your light. I’m not picky, but I focus on good scripts. “
For now though, the Hong Kong actor says he’s taking his time to think things through. He’d previously been in talks with several companies in the mainland but since he was too busy filming a new drama, he didn’t really have time to think about it.
Vincent Wong currently stars as Justice Sung in the new TVB remake of the popular 90s classic entitled Justice Sung Begins. He stars alongside Elaine Yiu, Lam Chi Chung and even the “original” Justice Sung – Cheung Tat Ming who is also listed as the producer of the remake.

it’s so silly to say leaving tvb but joining shaw brothers after lol. they’re all in the same family, with maybe shaw bros being slightly more sophisticated. I don’t recall them having any great hits recently with their cadre of artists tho…so not a good gamble. but, I guess, if Vincent fails in the mainland market, he can always fall back on TVB again. he’s prob banking on that too
