Du Hua Nian 度华年 announced today the newest pairing of Angel Zhao Jinmai and Zhang Linghe. In the past month, the 25-year-old actor has been on a roll of sorts. He is back with Esther Yu Shuxin in the currently airing wuxia series My Journey to You. He’s fresh off of filming for his xianxia series Si Hai Chong Ming 四海重明 with actress Jing Tian which just wrapped, and it appears the actor has snapped up yet another historical series.

Despite having over a decade experience in the industry as a former child star, Zhao Jinmai hasn’t done a lot of historicals. Her last one was The Blessed Girl opposite Lin Yi. This time around, the 20-year-old actress will play an arrogant and powerful princess.

Adapted from the novel The Grand Princess 长公主 written by Mo Shu Bai 墨书白, the story follows a couple who are given a second chance to change their fate after they are reborn.  As the grand princess of the Xia Dynasty, Li Rong (Zhao Jinmai) married Pei Wenxuan (Zhang Linghe), the chief minister, for political reasons. Several years later, each one died by the other’s hand due to a misunderstanding. Now reborn, the two meet again at 18. With their memories of their past life intact, they team up to get to the bottom of the conspiracy that tore them apart in their previous life, allowing them to reshape their past and their future.

Youku’s latest historical series is directed by Yik-Chun Go with a screenplay by Rao Jun.
