It’s full steam ahead for the Donnie Yen acted and directed Sakra 天龙八部之乔峰传, the film adaptation of Jin Yong’s wuxia novel Demi-Gods and Semi Devils. The movie, which will first be released in theaters in Malaysia and Singapore on January 16 before other locations has also just announced its release date online in China.
Sakra will air as a web movie on the three big streaming platforms iQIYI, Tencent and Youku starting January 21, just before all the Lunar New Year movies hit theaters the next day.

In Sakra, also entitled Legend of Qiao Feng in Mandarin, 59-year-old Donnie Yen plays the titular character. Yukee Chen, 30, plays Qiao Feng’s love interest A’Zhu while Cya Liu, 33, plays A’Zi. And as for Grace Wong whom Netizens initially pegged to play the role of A’Zhu? Grace will be playing Kang Min aka Ma Furen. She plots Qiao Feng’s downfall after her attempts to win his affections fail.
Apart from Donnie and the three ladies, Hong Kong industry veterans such as Kara Wai, Eddie Cheung Siu-fai and Ray Lui also star. Chinese actor Wu Yue plays Murong Fu while actress Cai Xiangyu plays A’Bi.

In the story, Qiao Feng is wrongfully accused of killing his parents and other martial artists in the pugilistic world. With him now an outcast and deemed as a threat, he’s forced to engage in a fight against well, everyone in the beggar sect. The trailer features a lot of scenes from Qiao Feng’s epic fight against his former friends and comrades which is pretty amazing. But then again, this being a Donnie Yen project, you can’t really expect anything less than explosive action in the film’s fight scenes you know? It’s definitely promising to give a very different take on the beloved classic.

How does she keep getting these lead roles with such mediocre acting.
