Talk about a super daring look! Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai reportedly spent a whopping NT$ 18 million (approx 600k USD) to create 11 sets of eye-catching avant-garde looks for her Ugly Beauty concert. And out of those looks, her crystal encrusted magenta “naked dress” certainly caught a lot of attention.
Giving the illusion that Jolin was completely naked underneath the see-through dress, her costume is a masterpiece of designer Heather Picchiottino who also worked on Katy Perry’s stage costumes. In order to create Jolin’s fitted sexy dress, a 3D body scan was first completed in Taiwan before being sent to the US where the labour intensive process of gluing the crystals one by one was done. From the result, the entire process appears to be well worth it though with the illusion and gradient design. So much so that even Katy couldn’t resist commenting on the look saying it might be her “fave of all time”. The 42-year-old singer topped it off with a sparkly fringed headdress weighing 1 kilograms. The designer shared a glimpse of the entire process of creation on Instagram and the details are simply amazing!
