It looks like Fan Bingbing is slowly getting back on her feet after the tax evasion scandal that struck a huge blow on her flourishing career in 2018. Since her scandal, she hasn’t appeared in Chinese mainstream media, opting instead to share beauty tips on social media. It doesn’t mean though that she’s closed the door to acting forever. Fan Bingbing makes her Korean drama debut in the action-thriller Insider which stars Kang Ha Neul, Lee Yoo Young and Heo Sung Tae.
Back in February, Korean media broke the news that the Chinese actress already wrapped filming for her scenes. However, details were kept under tight wraps by production and it wasn’t until recently that her appearance was finally revealed.
Since Insider premiered last month, fans have been patiently waiting for their favourite actress to appear on screens. Last night, it appears their patience finally pays off since the short preview for episode 14 includes a three second clip of Fan Bingbing looking all serious in a black suit with a bunch of black suited guys surrounding her. With only a few episodes remaining until the finale, it’ll be interesting to know find out more about her exact role – whether it is going to be a cameo or a much bigger character.
This is actually the actress’ second time working in a South Korean production since the 2011 film My Way. Aside from this, she also worked on several international projects such as the French film Stretch, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Skiptrace. While Fan Bingbing’s previously filmed projects in China remain unaired, she’s appeared in two Hollywood releases this year as a mermaid in the action-fantasy film The King’s Daughter and the American spy flick The 355 with an all-star cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger, Lupita Nyong’o, Edgar Ramirez and Sebastian Stan although both performed poorly at the box office.
