In 2017, Kim Woo Bin announced that he had been diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer and that he would be stepping back from the industry to focus on healing. After undergoing two years of treatment, the 32-year-old returned to the industry in 2019. What we didn’t know is that the model turned actor apparently had his industry “senior” Lee Byung Hun to thank for his early cancer diagnosis.
Entertainment Youtuber Lee Jin Ho broke the news recently that the actor was able to catch the illness and get treated during its early stages after Lee Byung Hun encouraged him to get his health checked. The Our Blues co-stars were on a night out when Kim Woo Bin’s nose started to bleed. And it wasn’t the first time too. According to Lee Jin Ho, the actor first didn’t think much of it when he began getting nosebleeds as early as May 2017. Since his schedule is so full and he’s always on the go, he merely chalked it up to his body being so tired. Good thing he took Lee Byung Hun’s advise and got himself checked the next day.
In December of the same year, Kim Woo Bin announced through a letter that he had successfully completed his treatment plan. Today, he’s back and better than ever, co-starring not only with Lee Byung Hun in the on-going series Our Blues, but also with his longtime girlfriend, actress Shin Min-a.
