Sad news out of Hong Kong today as veteran actor Kenneth Tsang (曾江) was found unresponsive whilst isolating in a quarantine hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. He was 86-years-old.
Hong Kong media reports that the actor was holed up in a quarantine hotel having just returned home from Singapore on the 25th. Up until yesterday (April 26) his antigen tests all had negative results. However, when officials from the Health Department came around to check on him this morning (April 27), hotel staff had to be called in since no one answered the door. It was then that they found him unconscious. Police and medical staff were immediately notified but when they arrived at the scene, Kenneth had unfortunately passed. In recent years, it is reported that he has secretly been in and out of hospital due to illness. For now though, the cause of the actor’s death is yet to be determined.
Kenneth Tsang made his acting debut in 1964 with his illustrious career spanning close to six decades in the industry. Aside from starring in various Hong Kong productions, he also worked on several international projects. You can find him in Singapore’s The Teochew Family and The Unbeatables II during the 90s. His Hollywood debut later saw him working with Chow Yun-fat in The Replacement Killers. The pair eventually reunited to work on Anna and the King. Kenneth also appeared in Rush Hour 2 and played General Moon in 2002’s 007 flick Die Another Day.
In 2015 after decades in the industry, he finally won Best Supporting Actor for his role in the crime thriller Overheard 3 竊聽風雲3. Like many Hong Kong actors, he’s kept pretty busy filming cdramas and films in the mainland.

What sad news. He was an amazing actor. I still think he made the best Huang Yaoshi in the condor heroes

Kenneth was amazing, his characters awed me and terrified me, he made me love them, loathe them, and ultimately was just a really key person to the golden era of HK’s dramas. Thank you Kenneth for all your wonderful characters!!

Aww, my childhood memories of all these TVB stars. He was the best Wong Yak Si, Wong Yong’s father from Barbara Yeung’s version. Always loved their father daughter banter in the Condor Heroes series.
He always had the rich man vibes, which is why he always plays the rich guy in TVB dramas.
I didn’t know he was in mainland dramas, I’m now wondering which Mainland dramas he is in now.
