Netflix’s original Spanish crime drama “Money Heist” (also known as “La Casa de Papel”) came to an end after five seasons last year. It easily become a global phenomenon and its Korean remake “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area” is coming soon!
So without further ado, here’s what you need to know.

1. What is “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area” about?
The remake is set on the eve of the peaceful reunification between North and South Korea. As the two nations construct a new unified currency, the Money Heist crew views this as an opportunity. The plot is similar to the original “Money Heist” which follows The Professor, a mysterious criminal mastermind as he assembles his gang of thieves to execute an intricate heist on the Royal Mint of Spain.
2. The New Mask
The show uses traditional Korean Hahoetal masks instead of the Salvador Dali masks featured in the original. In the title announcement trailer, the professor contemplates a number of masks, including the iconic Dali mask, and it’s safe to say that we know what he finally went with.
3. Who makes up the cast?

Yoo Ji-tae (Professor), Park Hae-soo (Berlin), Jeon Jong-seo (Tokyo), Lee Won-jong (Moscow), Kim Ji-hun (Denver), Jang Yoon-ju (Nairobi), Lee Hyun-woo (Rio), Kim Ji-hoon (Helsinki), and Lee Kyu-ho (Oslo) make up the ensemble cast. Aside from the professor, the characters have codenames based on cities.
The show is helmed by Kim Hong-sun who also directed Voice Season 1.
4. When will it air?
“Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area” consists of 12 episodes. Part 1 which premieres June 24 on Netflix will consist of the first six episodes of the series.
5. “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area” Latest Trailer
Netflix saw its Korean-language series Squid Game making history due to its groundbreaking success. While “Money Heist: Korea” being a remake of such a successful series has a lot to live up to, it definitely has the potential to become another hit if done well. What’s more, there’s the incidental connection of Squid Game’s Park Hae Soo also starring in this one.
Feel free to share your impressions on this remake, because I have a feeling that it will not disappoint! Comment below with your thoughts!!

My first impression is that that is a silly, impractical mask for a heist, with the field of vision narrowed down to a wavy slit.
