After a long absence from the small screens, Hu Ge who recently finished filming Blossoms Shanghai signs on for yet another drama. Bright Future 县委大院 is produced by the same folks who brought us Nirvana in Fire and The Disguiser. And it’s safe to say that expectations are certainly high. Never mind the fact that Bright Future is already being touted as Daylight Entertainment’s “next big thing”.

The series just announced the first batch of names making up its official line up. And from the looks of it, casting appears to be pretty solid. Actress Wu Yue who has played a number of supporting roles that also include Daylight Serenade of Peaceful Joy stars as Hu Ge’s leading lady.
Bright Future also features Huang Lei and Li Guangjie in special starring roles including some “regulars” from previous Daylight projects. Other cast include Steven Zhang Xincheng, Wang Xiao, You Yong, Fang Zibin. Special appearances will be made by Sun Chun, Tamia Liu Tao, Wan Qian and Zhu Yuchen. The series is also being directed by Nirvana in Fire’s Kong Sheng.
From what little we know, Bright Future tells the story of county party secretary Mei Xiaoge (played by Hu Ge) and the reforms he and his colleagues introduce to bring about much needed change and development to the lives of the people of Guangming county. Given the subject, it does appear to be a more serious themed show. The series is a key project by China’s National Radio and Television Administration.
