Reset 开端 starring Bai Jingting and Angel Zhao Jinmai started airing last week and reviews have been very positive. It exceeded 300 million views as of Jan 16 and ranks second on streaming platform Tencent just behind Sword Snow Stride, which recently ended its run.
Being a shorter drama with only 15 episodes, Reset may not have the fastest rise in views, but it seems the buzz around it is completely warranted as the show opened strong on ratings site Douban with a score of 8.2. Reset tells the story of game designer Xiao Heyun (Bai Jingting) and college student Li Shiqing (Zhao Jinmai) who are stuck in the same day repeatedly after a bus explosion. From strangers looking out for themselves to fighting alongside each other, they race to break the cycle.
Reset is another one from Daylight Entertainment, a production company known for quality works like Nirvana in Fire and All Is Well. While the theme around time loops is not unfamiliar, it’s less explored in Chinese dramas. Reset runs with the concept, and it looks like it has earned its stripes.
