It’s been an exciting couple of months for Squid Game star Jung Ho Yeon whose career skyrocketed after starring as Player 67 in Netflix’s most viewed series of all time. As Vogue’s newest cover girl, the former model turned actress celebrates another milestone as she lands the fashion bible’s highly coveted cover as the first Korean to ever do so solo.

Vogue’s cover story From Squid Game to Supernova chronicles how much Ho Yeon’s whirlwind rise to become one of the industry’s newest darlings totally transformed her life and how she still manages to remain essentially true to herself despite it all.

After winning second place in Korea’s Next Top Model at the young age of 19, Ho Yeon moved to New York a few years later to model for luxury brands such a Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Marc Jacobs. However, as time went on, Hoyeon said that modeling contracts began to dry up, hence forcing her to re-evaluate what she wanted out of her career. “Looking back, if not for those quiet and lonely times, I don’t know that I would have ever dreamed of acting.”
