Qian Feng Quits “Day Day Up” Following Sexual Assault Allegations Against Him

Coming on the heels of sexual assault allegations against him, popular TV host Oscar Qian Feng announced today his departure from the long-running variety show Day Day Up. The 37-year-old is accused of drugging and raping a woman named Xiao Yi who came forward with a detailed account of what transpired on the night he allegedly drugged and raped her two years ago including chat screenshots and CCTV footage. Since then, the host has been suspended by Day Day Up producer Hunan TV whilst the case is still being investigated.

In his statement, the Day Day Up host cited the negative impact of the rumours circulating against him online on the show and on Hunan Satellite TV as the main reason for his decision to quit. Aside from thanking viewers and colleagues who supported him over the years, Qian Feng also confirmed the termination of his relationship with the TV network.

As for the allegations against him, Qian Feng had this to say “As early as February 2019, a task force composed of criminal investigators and legal experts of the Shanghai police conducted a detailed investigation of the incident. On March 15, 2019, the joint task force formally made the decision not to file a case. On August 24, 2021, the statement from the Changning branch of the Shanghai Police also provided a detailed account of the pertinent steps undertaken in the investigation. Now as for the rumours circulating online, I have faith in the law, I rely on the law and will initiate legal action to protect myself.
