On August 7, former NBA player Jeremy Lin took to his social media accounts to reveal that he is at a Shanghai hospital being treated for COVID-19. As part of China’s health protocols, travellers are subjected to a minimum 14-day quarantine upon arrival. Jeremy Lin who flew from San Francisco to Shanghai tested positive by day three.
Jeremy was vaccinated in the United States, tested negative prior to departure and again upon arrival yet somehow became infected. Despite getting sick, Jeremy is all smiles in a photo of him on his hospital bed with two thumbs up. In sharing his story, he urges those vaccinated to continue to take precautions and those unvaccinated to do get vaxxed. He said, “My case is mild but it hasn’t been a cakewalk and I can’t imagine what it’d be like if I weren’t vaccinated.”
He expressed thanks to the medical personnel and looks forward to his full recovery. His celebrity friends that include a mix of actors Simu Liu, Daniel Dae Kim, Daniel Wu, Vanness Wu, singers Jay Chou, JJ Lin, Wang Leehom and Chinese basketball players like Zhai Xiaochuan commented on his post to wish him well.
