Exes Prince Chiu (Wang Zi) and Stephy Tang only had kind words for each other when they suddenly announced their breakup in June 2021. Although they never specified the reason for the breakup, it has not stopped Hong Kong media from forming their own speculations.
While the two were apart in Hong Kong and Taiwan due to the epidemic, Prince Chiu reportedly often went to nightclubs to hang out with girls which included former Hey Girl member Yako Chan (aka Ya Tou). There was also rumors that Prince Chiu is dating a new girl, a Taiwanese stylist, and they would be seen at gatherings together. Finally, there were reports that Prince Chiu had no plans to get married which is what ultimately led to Stephy ending the relationship.
Singer-actress turned businesswoman Yako Chan took to Instagram late at night in her friend’s defence saying the rumourmongers do not know Prince Chiu at all, “He doesn’t play, he’s very boring okay? @PRINCE_PSTAR.” She revealed that Wang Zi is the biggest homebody out of all male celebrities that she knows saying he doesn’t like to go out, doesn’t like the night life, doesn’t like drinking alcohol, doesn’t like socializing; he’s very dedicated and only has eyes for his partner when he’s in love.” Prince Chiu reacted to her post and said, “I can still have fun gaming okay?” He also said, “Thank you for clarifying things, and sorry you were dragged into this, 15 years of friendship, worth it.”
Yako Chan who’s a former member of Hey Girl and Prince Chiu who’s a former member of Lollipop both came from idol groups born out of Channel V’s reality show back in the early 2000’s. Both groups often collaborated as well.
