“Love Between Fairy and Devil” Features Dylan Wang as the Demon King and Esther Yu as the Little Orchid

A little bit late in the game but here’s a sneak peek at Dylan Wang and Esther Yu’s ongoing project entitled ELove Between Fairy and Devil (Cang Lan Jue) 苍兰诀.  Foregoing any subtle hinting on their parts, Dylan and Esther indirectly let everyone in on the project when they greeted each other a happy birthday last December with a photo of a cake featuring their Can Lan Jue characters. And now, four months after the pair let the cat out of the bag, we’re finally getting our chance to take a look at Esther’s Xiao Lan Hua (little orchid) and Dylan’s demon king Dongfang Qingcang.

Right off the bat you can immediately tell from the visuals the sort of personalities Xiao Lan Hua and Dongfang Qingcang each will have. Esther looks quite soft and innocent in her poster, whilst Dylan in contrast looks quite stern and coldly arrogant as the demon king. Meanwhile, the overall visuals presented by the rest of the cast consisting of Xu Haiqiao, Guo Xiaoting, Zhang Linghe, Charles Lin, Wang Yueyi, Hong Xiao and Zhang Chenxiao look pretty great too! While the costumes aren’t as colourfully elaborate as some xianxias tend to be, you get a feel of what’s to come from the light versus dark theme in the posters released by the drama.

Love Between Fairy and Devil Synopsis

Adapted for the small screens from author Jiu Lu Fei Xiang’s novel of the same name, the xianxia tells the story of how two sworn enemies inadvertently fall head over heels for each other. Centuries ago, the goddess of the Po Xin tribe was defeated by the demon king Dongfang Qingcang. Ten thousand years later, she is reincarnated as the lowly fairy Xiao Lan Hua who unintentionally resurrects her mortal enemy the demon king from the Haotian Tower where he is imprisoned. To regain his freedom, Dongfang Qingcang intends to sacrifice Xiao Lan Hua’s immortal soul to unlock the curse placed upon him. Who knew however that he manages to fall in love with her in the process.
