L.O.R.D. 2 Secures New Release Date After 2 Years, Fan Bingbing Nowhere to be Seen

It’s been four years since the big-budget CGI fantasy film L.O.R.D. Legend of Ravaging Dynasties 爵跡 was first released in 2016. Its elusive part 2 which was supposed to be released in 2018 sadly got postponed, but the wait is finally over!

L.O.R.D. Legend of Ravaging Dynasties 2 爵迹2 has gotten a new Chinese title 冷血狂宴 and a new premiere date of December 4, 2020 on Tencent. It seems to be forgoing the theatrical release altogether to opt for an online release and as someone who’s been waiting for the sequel to that cliffhanger ending from part 1, I am just happy to be able to see the movie.

Writer and director Guo Jingming who had previously expressed his frustrations when the movie was delayed took to social media to say, “On December 4, the second part of Jue Ji series is finally here. For me, the movie is a distant dream that often comes back. Those in the dream are still around, hope that you are still around.”

L.O.R.D. 2 is expected to continue the story that revolves around the dying wish of the former lord to the 6th degree as the main characters overcome many difficulties to find Gilgamesh. It brings back the star-studded cast of Kris Wu, Cheney Chen, William Chan, Amber Kuo, Jelly Lin Yun, Roy Wang Yuan and Wang Duo. What’s more, the TFBoys are all present as Karry Wang Junkai and Jackson Yee join Roy Wang to play the Silver Priests.

However, Fan Bingbing’s Lotus is noticeably absent from the trailer and posters. The actress has yet to make a successful comeback following her tax evasion scandal in 2018. It’s not clear if she’s been cut from the movie or still appearing but with zero promotion. Considering that she was the main protagonist of L.O.R.D., I wonder what that means for the story.
