The Tencent 2020 Annual Press Conference held today was star-studded like always with new updates for their many projects in the pipeline. It’s also a time to announce upcoming dramas so let’s take a look at some of them because they’re huge!
She and Her Perfect Husband (二八定律)
Yang Mi is an elite lawyer who is still single while Xu Kai plays a homebody, a character whom the actor describes as very different from himself. Forced by circumstances, the two decide to get married and find love along the way.
You Are My Glory (你是我的荣耀)
Dilireba plays Qiao Jingjing, a well-known celebrity whose gaming endorsement lands her in hot water when she’s exposed for being a terrible player. Qiao Jingjing tries to make things right by entering a gaming competition where she meets Yang Yang as Yu Tu, an old school crush in an online game.
Today, must be my lucky day because these pairings that were rumors just yesterday have all turned out to be true! Yang Yang may have played the gamer in three dramas now, but I don’t mind it at all. It’s exciting to see him lead another adaptation based on a novel by Love O2O author Gu Man.
Blossoms (繁花)
Hu Ge’s long-awaited return to dramaland is finally here as the Shanghai native headlines Blossoms, a drama with Wong Kar-wai at the helm as producer and chief director. This collaboration has masterpiece written all over it already. Blossoms is based on the critically-acclaimed novel of the same name by Jin Yucheng which won the Mao Dun Literary Prize in 2015 and depicts the lives of Shanghainese people from the 1960’s to the 1990’s.
Three-Body (三体)
The Wandering Earth in 2019 based on a short story by Liu Cixin proved that science fiction can rake in huge numbers in the Chinese box office. After much anticipation, Liu Cixin’s most popular work, The Three-Body Problem, is getting a drama adaptation that stars Zhang Luyi, Yu Hewei, Chen Jin, Olivia Wang Ziwen, Lin Yongjian and Li Xiaoran.
