Who can resist a man in uniform, most especially if he looks quite swoony in it as Shawn Dou does eh? Shawn is back with Love in Flames of War 良辰好景知几何 opposite leading lady Chen Duling. It is set a heart-rending drama during the war torn period of the early Republic.
Now if the drama follows along the original plot of the novel of the same name by author Ling Xi, prepare to be taken on an emotional roller coaster. It’s a story of one man’s redemption – Shawn’s character Xiao Beichen starts off being quite bad. Chen Duling’s character, the sweet Lin Hangjing absolutely hated him, and love’s transformative power, set against the tumultuous backdrop of war.
Sounds like we can expect to see bits of the darker personality of Shawn’s Princess Agents’ Yan Xun in the beginning parts of Love in Flames of War. The heroine also has another man as her first love so we’ll just have to wait and see how loving Hanjing turns Xiao Beichen into a better person and how the main couple eventually falls in love. If anything, the drama is certainly bound to challenge both actor’s skills and if you find yourself reaching for a box of tissues, they’ve clearly done their job well.
The drama also stars quite an ensemble with veteran actors Hu Jun, Wang Jinsong and rising star Yuan Hao who first gained attention as the charming pirate in The Romance of Hua Rong playing the second lead. Zhao Yingzi, Leon Lai Yi, Dong Xuan, He Minghan, Yao Anlian,Liu Mengmeng, Guan Xin, Ran Xu and Zhang Gong also star.
