MIRROR member Keung To, 27, recently revealed that his education only reached Form 1 level, and he admitted that he had previously lied about completing Form 3. However, he has since completed a Diploma in Sports Coaching at the Youth College, which is equivalent to high school graduation.
On stage, Keung To opened up about his personal struggles over the years. He shared that during his school days, he was often disliked because of his personality and physique, and admitted that he was immature at the time. He also confessed that in past interviews, he lied, claiming he had repeated a year once, when in fact he had repeated two years. His academic failures left him feeling lost, which he says marks the first major breakdown in his life.
He said, “The most confused I’ve ever been was when I left secondary school. The school said I couldn’t continue because my grades were too poor. Do you know I repeated a year? What many people don’t know is that I actually repeated two years. Back then, I was too embarrassed to admit it. In truth, I only studied up to Form 1. In earlier interviews, I said I reached Form 3, that wasn’t true. Think about it, Form 1 isn’t even that hard, but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t keep up.”
After that, he pursued his dream of becoming a singer but faced repeated failures in various competitions, leading to his second major breakdown. Eventually, he found success at age 19 through the 2018 ViuTV show Good Night Show – King Maker and debuted with Hong Kong boyband Mirror. Hitting megastardom led to a third breaking point when he admitted, “People say you shouldn’t let success get to your head, but honestly, when you become famous so quickly, how can you not?”
Fortunately, with the help of those around him, he was able to regain his footing. He also encouraged everyone not to give up easily when facing difficulties.
