Patrick Tam Misses Best Actor Nomination at 2026 Hong Kong Film Awards

The nominations for the 44th Hong Kong Film Awards have been announced. Patrick Tam’s movie Fight For Tomorrow received multiple nominations, but Tam did not receive a nomination for “Best Actor.” Louis Koo, on the other hand, achieved a “double nomination” with Behind the Shadows and Back to the Past, competing with Louis Cheung and Tony Leung Ka Fai for Best Actor.

Fight For Tomorrow, released in 2025, features Patrick Tam as a washed-up triad boss. Before the nominations were announced, many netizens speculated that the 56-year-old star had a strong chance of securing a nomination, but his name was absent from the list.

Shortly after the announcement, he posted, “heart scorched, spirit cold” on social media, which means feeling discouraged. He later deleted the post and denied any such intention when asked about it, “No, I didn’t. I don’t know how happy Locker is 🥰. No, it was just about some private work, just posting a few lines to express myself, thanks for caring 🙏💖.” Notably, his co-star, rising actor Locker Lam Ka-Hei, successfully earned a nomination for “Best Supporting Actor.”

With a career spanning over three decades, Patrick Tam has portrayed numerous iconic roles. Additionally, fellow actor Bryant Mak voiced his opinion about the Best Actor nominations, commenting: “All nominations are fine, but it would’ve been great if Raymond Lam and Patrick Tam were included.”
