Meteor Garden Actress Wang Yue, Who Played Shan Cai’s Mom, Has Brain Surgery After Sudden Collapse

Wang Yue, best known for playing Shan Cai’s mother in the original Meteor Garden (2001) and even appeared in the Meteor Garden remake (2018) in a cameo role, has shared an account of a sudden and life-threatening medical emergency she experienced recently.

The 60-year-old Taiwanese actress-host revealed that she collapsed at home late November after suddenly fainting and hitting her head, causing her to lose consciousness. She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered an injury that required immediate surgery. “I underwent emergency cranial surgery to remove a blood clot and save my life,” she wrote. She revealed that her situation was so critical that her son had to sign a consent form before the operation, while her daughter, who was overseas in Busan at the time, immediately changed her flight and returned to Taipei.

Although the surgery was successful, Wang remained unconscious in the ICU for five days and was only transferred to a general ward eight days later. She later learned that part of her skull had been temporarily removed. “Every day, every breath became very difficult,” she shared, adding that doctors explained her condition would improve once her skull is restored.

As she undergoes skull reconstruction surgery this week, Wang admitted to feeling both anxious but also thankful towards everyone. Her doctors said she’s extremely fortunate. Reflecting on the ordeal, she came to a realization, “A miracle doesn’t necessarily mean being completely unhurt. It means being hurt less than imagined.” She ended her message by encouraging others facing illness or fear that they’re not alone.
