The 27-year-old Chinese actor Li Hongyi has seen his popularity soar in recent years thanks to his portrayal of Xiao Se in The Blood of Youth. Recently, many were shocked to hear the news that he had been placed under court-imposed restrictions on high consumption that would affect travel and other spendings like staying at star-rated hotels, purchasing property, vehicles, etc.
Li Hongyi Addresses Rumors
In response, Li Hongyi issued a formal statement clarifying the situation. He explained that his management contract with his former agency expired in 2022. Following negotiations, both parties reached a compensation arrangement related to the contract’s termination. Li emphasized that he has consistently honored the agreed terms over the years and is actively working with all relevant parties to resolve any remaining matters to be able to move forward.
He also stressed his resolve as an actor, saying, “I have always remained focused on my craft, carefully honing every project and bringing each role to life with dedication. Here, I sincerely ask everyone to focus on my performances and creative work, rather than on questions such as billing or placement. There is no need to over-interpret matters that were settled long ago, speculate freely, or be led astray by one-sided narratives online.”
His Studio Clarifies Consumption Restrictions
Regarding the court ruling, Li Hongyi studio issued a statement to say that the dispute over the termination of his management contract with Hunan Mango Entertainment Co., Ltd. has already been adjudicated. The court ruled that the contract be terminated and that both parties bear responsibility for breach of contract. After offsetting relevant amounts, Li Hongyi is required to personally pay RMB 13.08 million to Mango Entertainment.
Following the judgment, Li Hongyi paid part of the amount. However, due to the large total sum, his studio explained that he had been unable to raise the full payment at once and is therefore paying it in installments. During this process, Mango Entertainment initiated compulsory enforcement in accordance with legal procedures, which led the court to impose restrictions on high consumption.
They stressed that the court’s ruling supports Li Hongyi’s right to independently develop his acting career. The spending restriction is purely an enforcement measure arising from temporary financial constraints, not from any illegal or criminal conduct, nor from any behavior that violates public order or good morals. His studio added that the matter will not affect the actor’s collaborations with any partners.

“Restrictions on high consumption” – very interesting. I think most judicial systems do not have such a relief option. It is very practical and effective.
