Moon River wrapped on December 20, earning its series high of 6.8% nationwide viewership rating on the day of its finale. For a show that’s basically inspired by 2010’s K-drama Secret Garden with the whole soul-swapping between the leads except in ancient times instead of the modern day, Moon River was bound to be good, and it is!
The final episode’s 6.8% rating nearly doubled the premiere’s 3.8%, marking a strong finish after a relatively slower start. While the numbers could have gone higher, perhaps it fared as best as it can against the behemoth that is Taxi Driver 3, which airs on the same time slot.
Without giving too much away, let’s just say it’s an ending most would be very happy with. After all, the show is pretty sweet without forced melodrama we so often see. Kim Sejeong made her sageuk debut as Dal I, once again creating a memorable and charming character, while Kang Tae Oh earned praise for his layered portrayal of a revenge-driven prince who ultimately transforms into a beloved leading man. Together, the two certainly brought the romance and the comedy that I just wish more people would see it.
