Short Drama Actor Injured After Punch Scene Turns Too Real

New actor Wang Nian Jiang Cheng (王年将成) was injured while filming his short drama Zhi Zhi Bu Juan (芝芝不倦). The incident occurred on November 22 during a scene where the 21-year-old actor was supposed to take a punch from co-star Lv Yi Hao. However, the latter’s punch struck Wang’s left brow bone. It caused a 1-centimeter laceration that reportedly required three stitches, along with severe bruising and swelling in the actor’s left eye, prompting the crew to suspend filming. A leaked video on set captured the impact and Wang Nian Jiang Cheng crouching down in pain. The next day, he posted a photo that showed his bruised eye, which he captioned, “I’m already back at the hotel. Don’t worry everyone, I’ll rest well!!!”

Lv Yihao later issued a public apology, explaining that the script required a punch where the character does not dodge. The shot was meant to be achieved using camera positioning and controlled distance. Because the actors were too close during actual filming, he failed to control his strength and angle. He wrote, “A-Nian, I’m sorry! I feel extremely, extremely guilty! I hope you recover soon. May everything go smoothly and safely for you.” Lv Yihao revealed that they have a warm relationship. Wang would take care of everyone and even shared food. He revealed that Wang Nian Jiang Cheng despite being injured comforted him immediately, telling him, “It’s okay, don’t worry.”

The production team’s written apology also acknowledges that there was an error in the blocking where actors’ should have coordinated positions and movements during a scene that led to the accident. They expressed respect for Wang’s professionalism and offered sincere apologies to Wang, the public, and all partners concerned. Meanwhile, some netizens questioned why such an incident occurred at all, noting that the scene should have relied on staged blows instead of a forceful one.
