
Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung who’s a regular at the Chinese reality show The Blooming Journey Season 2 (一路繁花2) offered fans a rare glimpse into her private life. During a conversation with co-stars Ning Jing, He Saifei, and Carina Lau, the 45-year-old actress revealed that she has weak hearing in her left ear.
Cecilia Cheung explained that her paternal grandparents were both deaf and mute, which meant that she grew up surrounded by sign language. From an early age, she learned to communicate through movement and emotion rather than words. “My grandfather couldn’t hear the music, but he used to imitate my rhythm when I danced,” she recalled, describing it as one of her most touching childhood memories. However, she admits she can’t hear well on one ear, a condition she believes may be hereditary.
Beyond health revelations, Cecilia Cheung who’s quite protective of her family’s privacy also discussed her approach to motherhood after she was on the phone with her son whom she conversed with in English. The actress, who’s a single mother of three sons, described her parenting style as gentle and loving rather than a strict disciplinarian. To the amusement of her co-stars, she shared that her eldest son with Nicholas Tse is often the one who’d scold her.
