‘The Glory’ Actor Jung Sung-il Announces Divorce After 9 Years of Marriage

Korean actor Jung Sung-il, who gained widespread recognition for his role as Lim Ji-yeon’s husband Ha Do Young in the hit drama The Glory, has announced his divorce. On October 14, his agency XYZ Studio confirmed that the 45-year-old actor and his wife have decided to end their nine-year marriage.

In a previous appearance on the variety show You Quiz on the Block, Jung Sung-il had shared the story of how he met his wife. After completing his military service, he was introduced to her through mutual friends while she was studying in the United States. Their relationship, which began through email exchanges eventually blossomed into a long-distance romance. Jung recalled that she later returned to Korea to care for her mother, who was undergoing surgery. They reconnected, and within three months, they decided to get married.

Although some were surprised by the divorce news, the statement emphasized that their separation was not due to any wrongdoing by either party, but rather a mutual agreement. The agency also urged the public to refrain from making speculations about the couple’s private life. Jung Sung-il and his wife have an eight-year-old son, and both are doing their best to raise their child.

Jung Sung-il is expected to return to the small screen in the upcoming Disney+’s series Made in Korea where he plays a supporting role.
