South Korean celebrity Cha Hyun-seung, 34, has shared heartbreaking news as he reveals that he is battling leukemia. Known for his athletic build and charismatic performances, the dancer rose to fame through Netflix reality hits Single’s Inferno and Physical: 100, and is well known to be the former backup dancer for K-pop star Sunmi.
Cha Hyun-seung posted photos on Instagram on September 27 showing himself in a hospital gown with his head shaved. In the caption, he recounted how, in early June, he was rushed to the emergency room and diagnosed with cancer. Initially, he struggled to accept the diagnosis and could not bring himself to tell anyone. It also came at a time when his career was on the rise and he has passed final auditions for all the projects he’s dreamed of.
After three months of processing the reality of his illness, Cha finally chose to speak out. “I am receiving treatment and quietly fighting the disease, one day at a time,” he said. He also expressed heartfelt thanks to those who have silently supported him: “I will overcome this and return stronger and warmer than before.” Many quickly flooded his post with messages of encouragement.
