
The 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards took place with a dazzling celebration, being the awards show dedicated to OTT content in the K-drama industry. Netflix’s When Life Gives You Tangerines, which had the most nominations, swept the night’s biggest prize—the Grand Award (Daesang). IU (Lee Ji-eun) took home Best Actress and delivered a moving acceptance speech: “In a world that tries to blur the meaning of our existence, I dedicate this to all the vivid souls like Ae-sun and the dreamers like Geum-Myeong”
The Best Actor award went to Joo Ji-hoon for The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, edging out Park Bo-gum, who still claimed the Popular Star Award. The Trauma Code was also hailed the Best Drama while actor Choo Young Woo took home Male Rookie Award. The ceremony wasn’t without its surprises—actor Lee Jun-young awkwardly walk onstage thinking he heard his name before realizing the actual winner for Popular Star Award was Lee Joon-hyuk. On the women’s side, Lee Hyeri who made a strong comeback in Friendly Rivalry won the Popularity Award alongside IU.
Other notable wins included actor-comedian Lee Kwang-soo (Best Supporting Actor) for Karma, who earned laughs his acceptance speech, and Yeom Hye-ran for When Life Gives You Tangerines. Newcomer Chung Su-bin won Female Rookie award for Friendly Rivalry.
