Chinese actress Dilraba Dilmurat finally receives a much deserved public apology after a Beijing court ruled in her favour against a Netizen for posting inappropriate remarks about her and actor-singer Luhan on social media.
Remember when everyone shipped Dilraba Dilmurat and Luhan’s pairing when they were both in the Chinese variety show Keep Running several years ago? Rumours began to spread that the pair were dating IRL soon after and it wasn’t until Luhan announced he was dating actress Guan Xiaotong that it died off.
However it seems a Netizen took it upon himself to post malicious remarks about Luhan and Reba in 2022, including groundless speculation about their relationship and personal attacks about their private lives. Because his remarks gained a lot of traction online, a lawsuit was filed by the actress against him claiming his inappropriate remarks negatively impacted her reputation. This week, the Beijing Internet Court ruled that the Netizen, a Mr Guo, violated Reba’s rights. He was also ordered to issue a public apology for the damages his statements caused.
In his apology, Mr Guo said that he deeply regretted his previous remarks and expressed his sincerest apologies for the trouble he caused. Whilst the apology came a little too late, it’s a good reminder to everyone that words and actions have consequences, so bashers and trolls beware.
