Hong Kong singer and actor Don Li Yat Long recently took to social media to announce that he’s quitting showbiz. In a recent clip on Tiktok, the 43-year-old said he’s no longer singing professionally and that the songs he’d posted are all covers of old songs for his fans to listen to.
In a separate post on Instagram, Don said quitting the spotlight is nothing new as he hasn’t filmed a drama for several years. For now though, he said he’s very happy to be living his best life. “I hope my life’s journey will be quiet. A life that will allow me to concentrate on work, spend more time with family, and occasionally meet up with like-minded friends and go travelling. That sort of life is enough.”
Becoming a Monk?
As for the news that he’d been living like a monk for a short time, Don said that it’s a solemn and serious journey for him so he won’t talk about it too much.
Previously, the singer-actor shared photos of himself shaving his head and wearing robes during his travels in India. He explained his original intent was to meditate and volunteer and that shaving his head was a decision he made after conversing with his mentor. During his short stay, he lived simply whilst helping out with tasks, giving gifts to poor and disabled folks and even helped herd cattle.
Per the rumourmill, Don Li supposedly went to India to get away from the pain of his breakup with his long term girlfriend who he’d been dating for six years. It appears the woman got engaged to her new boyfriend shortly after the breakup. However, Don clarified that he just wanted to get away for some peace and quiet and to do some volunteer work away from the prying eyes of everyone.
